Celtics Eye Giannis Antetokounmpo Trade, But Brown's Future Remains Uncertain

The Boston Celtics are actively pursuing Milwaukee Bucks superstar Giannis Antetokounmpo as they look to bolster their roster this offseason. According to Bill Simmons of The Ringer, the Celtics have already extended an offer for the two-time NBA MVP, indicating their serious intentions to secure his talents.

Following Simmons’ remarks, Gary Washburn of The Boston Globe provided insights into the Celtics' prospects of trading Jaylen Brown for Antetokounmpo. “I don’t think he's going to be a Celtic, and that’s just from what I’m hearing," Washburn noted on Monday. He added, "I think the Celtics are gauging what it would take to get Giannis to Boston and trying to figure out whether they want to move Jaylen Brown.”

In order for the Celtics to enhance their chances of acquiring Antetokounmpo, they may need to consider parting ways with Brown. The Miami Heat are also reportedly vying for the 10-time All-Star, which puts additional pressure on Boston to act swiftly if they want to prevent him from joining their conference rivals. Brown had an impressive season, averaging 28.7 points per game, particularly noteworthy as he performed well without Jayson Tatum for a significant portion of the year.

The situation remains fluid, and it is unclear whether the Celtics will ultimately decide to let go of their standout player to make room for Antetokounmpo.
