Celtics Eyeing 6-Foot-9 Forward to Strengthen Frontcourt in Upcoming Draft
The 2026 NBA Draft is fast approaching, with the Boston Celtics holding the 27th overall pick. As they prepare for the selection, the team is expected to focus on enhancing its frontcourt.
In a recent mock draft by CBS Sports' Adam Finkelstein, the Celtics are projected to select Santa Clara forward Allen Graves at their pick. "Graves is an analytic darling who has elite BPM metrics and a rare overlap of defensive playmaking, passing, ball-security, and offensive rebounding," Finkelstein noted. He emphasized that Graves possesses a unique blend of physicality and skill, along with the ability to stretch the floor with his shooting touch.
Graves, standing at 6 feet 9 inches, had a noteworthy freshman season at Santa Clara, playing in 35 games where he averaged 11.8 points and 6.5 rebounds. His decision to declare for the draft after just one year came as a surprise to many observers.
If the Celtics opt for Graves, he may need some time to adjust to the professional level, potentially limiting his immediate impact. However, he has the potential to develop into a key player, possibly filling a starting role alongside stars Jaylen Brown and Jayson Tatum in the future.
