Chargers Finalize Draft Signings by Adding WR Brenen Thompson
The Los Angeles Chargers have officially wrapped up their draft class by signing wide receiver Brenen Thompson from the fourth round, the team announced on Thursday. This move completes the signing of all their draft picks for the year.
Prior to Thompson's signing, the Chargers had secured contracts with several other players from their draft class, including first-round edge rusher Akheem Mesidor, second-round center Jake Slaughter, and fourth-round selections Travis Burke (offensive tackle) and Genesis Smith (safety). Additionally, they signed fifth-round defensive tackle Nick Barrett and sixth-round players Logan Taylor (offensive guard) and Alex Harkey (offensive tackle).
During his time at Mississippi State, Thompson made a significant impact, setting a single-season record with 1,054 receiving yards, which also led the SEC. He scored six touchdowns on 57 receptions, earning him second-team All-SEC accolades.
Before joining Mississippi State, Thompson spent two seasons at Oklahoma (2023-24) and played one year at Texas (2022). Over the course of his collegiate career, he amassed a total of 1,557 receiving yards and scored 10 touchdowns across 30 games played for the Bulldogs, Sooners, and Longhorns.
