Chiefs’ Wanya Morris Seeking Trade Amid Offensive Line Depth
The Kansas City Chiefs are reportedly considering a trade involving offensive tackle Wanya Morris, highlighting a surplus of talent along their offensive line. This decision stems from the team's ongoing quest to enhance their protection for quarterback Patrick Mahomes.
As reported by ESPN's Jeremy Fowler, Morris and the Chiefs have "agreed to explore trade options," as he is eager for more playing time due to the current depth at the tackle position. Morris expressed his desire for increased opportunities, which seems feasible given the Chiefs' roster situation.
Morris, a third-round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft, joined the Chiefs after a collegiate career at both Oklahoma and Tennessee. He earned a Super Bowl ring during his rookie year, contributing in 14 games, including four starts. Last season, he played in all 17 games and made 11 starts, even catching a touchdown pass.
However, his role diminished in 2025, where he appeared in 12 games but only started once. Prior to this season, there were already indications that Morris might be on the trading block as the Chiefs sought to bolster their offensive line. With an eye toward the future, Kansas City could seek valuable assets in exchange for a player with starting experience.
While Fowler’s comments suggest that a trade may not occur immediately, the situation could evolve as the season progresses.
