Coach Hecking: Wolfsburg heading to St Pauli to win the game

VfL Wolfsburg coach Dieter Hecking stressed that his team is heading to Hamburg for their decisive match against St Pauli on Saturday to "win the game" as both clubs are fighting for Bundesliga survival.

"We're heading to Hamburg to win the game – anything else shouldn't concern us," he said in a news conference on Thursday, referring to the match between Heidenhiem and Mainz.

Ahead of the final matchday of the season, Wolfsburg, St Pauli and Heidenheim are tied on 26 points. They will be battling for 16th place in the standings, which is the only spot for the relegation/promotion play-offs.

That's the only way one of them can still remain in the Bundesliga, as the trio can't leave the drop zone anymore. Wolfsburg are currenlty 16th.

"In the end, we have it in our own hands to secure 16th place with a good result. That's the task we have to tackle. We need to do our work," Hecking said.

Forward Patrick Wimmer won't be available due to muscular issues. Hecking hopes to have him back for a potential play-off match.
