Conor Bradley's Knee Injury Raises Concerns Over Severity
LONDON, ENGLAND - JANUARY 08: During a Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium, Gabriel Martinelli of Arsenal managed to evade Liverpool’s Conor Bradley on January 8, 2026. The incident occurred as Bradley was chasing the ball when he suffered a serious knee injury, which has since put his season in jeopardy.
Initially, reports suggested that Bradley did not sustain an ACL tear, but rather significant damage to the bone and ligaments, necessitating surgical intervention. Although he has been spotted at the AXA training facilities engaging in rehabilitation exercises, including load-bearing routines, his return to play remains uncertain.
Northern Ireland's national team manager, Michael O’Neill, recently affirmed that Bradley is “making good progress,” but refrained from providing a specific timeline for his comeback. “Obviously, we have interaction with Conor quite regularly,” O’Neill stated. “I spoke to him last week. He’s doing well, you know, he’s making progress, but like it’s not for me to put any type of timeline on that progress at this minute in time. We just want him back, fit and healthy, of course we do, as do Liverpool, but it’s important that how that injury is handled.”
However, fresh speculation suggests that Bradley’s injury could be more severe than initially believed. According to Chris Williams, a source within the IFA, the nature of Bradley's injury may require Liverpool's new manager to prioritize finding a replacement right back. Williams indicated that the injury Bradley suffered upon landing was not the same as the one he exited the stadium with, hinting at potentially significant ramifications.
Given the tightly controlled information surrounding Bradley’s injury and recovery since January, it’s challenging to verify these claims. O’Neill has mentioned that updates on Bradley's condition remain “confidential between club and player.” For now, fans and teammates alike can only hope for the best as Bradley continues his rehabilitation this summer, aiming for a successful return to training.
