Coveted New Jersey Edge Rusher Schedules Official Visit to Washington

The Washington Huskies have added another visitor to their May 29-June 1 official visit weekend.

Chaz Gray, a 6-foot-5, 250-pound four-star junior from Montvale, New Jersey, became the third committed edge rusher to schedule a trip to Seattle for the final weekend in May when he confirmed his visit on social media Monday.

Ranked as the No. 36 edge and No. 6 recruit from the Garden State in the 2027 class by 247Sports, Gray received one of his first scholarship offers from UW last winter. Since then, the Huskies’ staff has built a strong connection with the coveted New Jersey defender, which included a recent visit from inside linebackers coach Brian Odom earlier this month.

Gray will join three-star Jag Ioane from Orem (Utah) and three-star Josh Christensen from Lake Oswego, Oregon, as the trio of uncommitted edge recruits on an official visit to UW on May 29, giving both the staff and all three recruits options moving forward.

In addition to UW, three other schools—Clemson, Nebraska, and Tennessee—are also pushing to host Gray for an official visit, with those trips expected to come in June, barring an early commitment on his first official visit to Washington.

Going back at least three decades, UW has never signed consecutive scholarship football recruits from New Jersey. Last December, four-star DePaul Catholic quarterback Derek Zammit signed with UW from the state, the first player from the Garden State to sign with the Big Ten school in recent memory.
