Delijah Matthews Commits to UNLV Football for 2027 Class

Delijah Matthews, a standout running back from Carl Albert, took to Instagram on Monday evening to announce his commitment to the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) for the 2027 recruiting class. The three-star athlete is recognized as the 15th best prospect in Oklahoma for his class, as per 247Sports rankings.

Measuring 6 feet tall and weighing 200 pounds, Matthews has received a total of 11 Division I offers, with his recruitment journey starting at North Texas in January 2025. His decision came after a strong junior season where he played a pivotal role in leading Carl Albert to an impressive 14-0 record, securing the school's fourth consecutive state championship, and setting a record for the most titles in Oklahoma history at 20.

In his remarkable season, Matthews achieved a record-breaking 44 rushing touchdowns, along with three passing touchdowns, totaling 2,033 rushing yards over 254 carries. His exceptional performance earned him the title of Gatorade Oklahoma Player of the Year.

In addition to his football success, Matthews also contributed to the Carl Albert basketball team, helping them reach the Class 5A championship game, where he averaged 10.7 points per game. Recently, he was honored as The Oklahoman’s 2025-26 All-City Boys Athlete of the Year during a banquet held at the Young Family Athletic Center in Norman.
