Derrick Lewis Warns Josh Hokit Against Rapid Turnaround Ahead of UFC Freedom 250

WASHINGTON – As Josh Hokit was receiving medical attention following his latest fight, the UFC announced his upcoming bout against Derrick Lewis for the Freedom 250 event. Lewis views this quick turnaround as a potential error on Hokit's part, especially considering it has only been 64 days since Hokit (9-0 MMA, 3-0 UFC) endured a grueling battle at UFC 327, where he faced off against Curtis Blaydes and absorbed a staggering 214 strikes, 174 of which were significant.

"I believe so," Lewis stated in an interview with MMA Junkie on Friday. "He had to have some time off. I don't care how. Even if he wanted to fight a couple of seconds, I still believe your body and your brain still need time off. I believe he's making a mistake."

In contrast, Lewis (29-13 MMA, 20-11 UFC) took a more cautious approach to his recovery after a lackluster performance against Waldo Cortes-Acosta in January. At the time, he admitted to weighing close to 300 pounds leading up to that fight. "I brushed it off," Lewis remarked. "I know the reason why I lost that fight is because I had a back injury. I couldn't move the whole fight. I know that's the reason."

The anticipation now builds as fans ponder whether Hokit will maintain his winning streak or if Lewis will reclaim his knockout prowess as the "Black Beast." All will be revealed this Sunday when the two heavyweights clash on the South Lawn.
