Diamondbacks wrap homestand, head for cooler climates in SF, Seattle

The Diamondbacks host the Colorado Rockies on Sunday, May 24, with right-hander Ryne Nelson on the mound for Arizona in the final game of a seven-game homestand at Chase Field.

Then it is off to San Francisco and Seattle for three games each, as the Diamondbacks finish up a stretch of 13 straight games against National League West opponents before tackling the AL West-contending Mariners.

The Diamondbacks swept a three-game series against the San Francisco Giants May 18-20. They'll be at Oracle Park for the first time in 2026.

The Giants have had a rough season under first-year manager Tony Vitello. They were one game ahead of Colorado in fourth place in the NL West going into games on Thursday, May 21.

Luis Arraez, who bats near the top of the San Francisco lineup, has been the Giants' top hitter this season, and Casey Schmitt, who homered at Chase Field Wednesday, May 20, had a team-high eight home runs after that one against Arizona's Merrill Kelly.

The Mariners have been a disappointment after reaching Game 7 of the American League Championship Series last season.

In addition to star catcher Cal Raleigh playing hurt and eventually landing on the injured list with an oblique injury, the Mariners offense has been tepid. Seattle's team batting average on Wednesday, May 20, was .225, tied for second-lowest in Major League Baseball.

The starting rotation including Bryan Woo, Emerson Hancock, Luis Castillo, Logan Gilbert, Bryce Miller and George Kirby has been solid and is the main reason for most of the Mariners' wins.

The Giants series times are 2:05 p.m. on Monday, May 25, followed by 6:45 p.m. on May 26 and 12:45 p.m. on May 27. After a day off on May 28, the Seattle series starts with a 7:10 p.m. first pitch on Friday, May 29, then 7:10 on May 30 and 1:10 p.m. on Sunday, May 31.
