Dillon Dingler Shines in Tigers' 10-4 Win Over Twins

In a commanding 10-4 victory over the Minnesota Twins on Tuesday, the Detroit Tigers showcased some standout performances, particularly from catcher Dillon Dingler. As the team continues to build momentum, Dingler's exceptional game has solidified his status as one of the top catchers in Major League Baseball and a strong candidate for the upcoming American League All-Star team.

Dingler delivered an impressive performance, going 4-for-5 at the plate with two home runs and four RBIs. This marks his second multi-homer game this season and his third game with four hits in 2026. With a total of 16 home runs and 48 RBIs in just 60 games this year, Dingler is on track to break the franchise record for home runs by a catcher, currently held by Rudy York at 35 from 1937. He could also become the first Tigers catcher to hit over 30 home runs in a season since Mickey Tettleton achieved that feat in the early 1990s.

Beyond his offensive contributions, Dingler's defensive skills remain top-notch. A Gold Glove winner last year, he has continued to excel behind the plate, including executing a crucial strikeout through a challenge during the game, highlighting his ability to navigate the new automated ball-strike system. The Tigers have won six of their last seven games in June, further establishing their competitiveness in the league.

However, it wasn't all positive for the Tigers. Gleyber Torres, who had a strong return from the injured list, seems to be struggling after a hot start. In his last three games, Torres has managed only one hit in 12 at-bats, including nine strikeouts. Despite a late-game single that contributed to the Tigers’ scoring, his defensive miscommunication with center fielder Matt Vierling led to an unnecessary double for the Twins, adding to concerns about his current form.

While Torres’ performance raises some alarm, Kerry Carpenter’s return to the lineup has been a silver lining. He hit a two-run homer in the fifth inning, marking his third home run since returning from injury, and helped the Tigers maintain their offensive edge alongside Dingler and Riley Greene.

The Tigers will look to build on this victory as they prepare for their next matchup against the Twins on Wednesday at 6:40 PM.
