Diniz Celebrates Two Months at Corinthians with Strong Performances and Returning Players

Fernando Diniz has completed two months at the helm of Corinthians, having taken over from Dorival Júnior on April 6. During his tenure, he has overseen 16 matches, achieving a record of nine victories, four draws, and three defeats, which translates to a commendable success rate of 65%. The team netted 20 goals while conceding 12.

Under Diniz's leadership, Corinthians advanced to the round of 16 in the 2026 Conmebol Libertadores, finishing top of Group E with 11 points. When the action resumes following the World Cup break, the team is set to compete against Di María's Rosario Central on August 13 in Argentina and again on August 20 at their home ground, Neo Química Arena.

In the Copa do Brasil, Diniz guided Corinthians past Barra-SC in the fifth round, winning 1-0 in both legs. They will now face Internacional in the round of 16, with the first match scheduled to take place at Beira-Rio and the second at home. The exact dates for these matches are yet to be announced by the CBF.

In the Brasileirão, Corinthians currently sits in tenth place with 24 points. However, since Diniz's arrival, the team has shown improved form, resembling a top-six contender with four wins, two draws, and two losses. Only Flamengo has garnered more points than Corinthians in this period, with just a three-point gap separating them.

The positive results have fostered a stronger bond with the club's supporters, known as the Fiel Torcida. Following victories, the traditional chant of “Go, Corinthians!” echoes throughout the stadium. Diniz boasts an impressive 79.2% success rate in home matches, having won six, drawn one, and lost one. The coach, who previously led Fluminense to victory in the 2023 Libertadores, has also helped revitalize players like Rodrigo Garro, Breno Bidon, and the young talent Kayke.
