Eric Trump’s Alleged Inquiry About ‘Rigged’ Fights Sparks Controversy Ahead of UFC Event
During preparations for the UFC Freedom 250 event set to take place on the South Lawn of the White House, a controversial post from UFC commentator Daniel Cormier has captured attention. This post, which has since been deleted, reportedly featured direct messages from Eric Trump, asking about the legitimacy of the fights scheduled for the event.
According to Cormier’s now-removed message on X, he revealed that Eric Trump reached out to him to inquire whether any of the fights were "rigged." Cormier, who is known for his dedication to the sport, expressed his disapproval of any insider information being sought ahead of the matchups. “I refuse to stay silent. The UFC is a sport that I am deeply passionate about I will not tolerate this type of insider behavior,” Cormier stated in his post.
The messages displayed a clear concern from Eric Trump regarding potential betting implications, as he specifically asked Cormier about the likelihood of an upset in a particular fight. “I’ll just cut to the chase. Are any of the fights tomorrow rigged? I’ve been eyeing the Lopes fight and I think an upset wouldn’t be too unrealistic. $$,” Trump wrote.
Despite the post's deletion, numerous UFC journalists have confirmed its existence, with some noting they witnessed it prior to its removal. Veteran UFC reporter Adam Martin commented on the situation, stating, “Yes, the DC tweet was 100% real… Wonder why DC deleted it. Someone got into his ear quickly, I guess.” He also acknowledged that there were odd elements surrounding the messages but maintained that the initial tweet was genuine.
Questions regarding the authenticity of the messages and whether Cormier's account was compromised remain unanswered. Cormier himself has not clarified the situation, though he did post a cryptic remark on X, questioning the intelligence of those discussing the incident. With the UFC event approaching, there has been no official statement from the organization regarding this peculiar exchange.
