ESPN Predicts Bruce Thornton's NBA Draft Destination
The NBA draft is just around the corner, and college players nationwide are eagerly anticipating the chance to join the professional ranks. Ohio State has seen several of its stars, including Brice Sensabaugh, Malaki Branham, and E.J. Liddell, make their way into the league in recent years. This year, the Buckeyes are hoping to hear another name called by NBA Commissioner Adam Silver on June 24.
Bruce Thornton has dedicated himself to the Ohio State basketball program, making a significant impact as the all-time leading scorer in the school's history. As a point guard, he exemplifies the qualities of a true floor leader, enhancing the performance of his teammates while also having the ability to score when needed. However, the question remains: is he ready to take the leap into the NBA?
According to ESPN’s latest mock draft, it appears he has a solid chance. The sports network predicts Thornton will be selected by the San Antonio Spurs in the middle of the second round, specifically at pick No. 44. Joining a team with a talent like Victor Wembanyama would present Thornton with opportunities he's yet to experience.
Interestingly, another former Buckeye, Felix Okpara, is forecasted to be picked just two spots ahead of Thornton, also by San Antonio. This scenario would create a reunion, as both players were teammates during their freshman and sophomore years before Okpara moved on to Tennessee for the remainder of his college career.
