Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark was in the midst of a dominant individual performance against the Seattle Storm on Sunday evening and appeared to be well on her way to a triple-double. However, she spent the vast majority of the fourth quarter on the bench, and fans are not happy about it.

Clark had one of the more dominant games of her career on Sunday evening as she finished the game with 21 points, 10 assists, and 7 rebounds, all in just 24 minutes of action.

With just under eight minutes to play in the game, Clark had a very real chance to pull down three more rebounds and complete the fourth triple-double of her career, which would have tied her with Sabrina Ionescu for the second-most triple-doubles of all-time, just 54 games into her career.

However, Clark was not given the opportunity.

With 7:53 remaining in the game, Clark was pulled from the lineup and did not return to the court as the Fever sealed the 89-78 victory without her. However, many fans were not happy with Fever head coach Stephanie White for pulling Clark and taking away the opportunity for her to accomplish the historic feat.

Some fans went as far as to suggest that White was “sabotaging” Clark by taking her out of the game with just under eight minutes remaining.

“Getting taken out of a WNBA game with 8 minutes left is crazy, especially when mostly everybody in that Arena is there to see her,” one fan wrote in a post on X.

“She’s being sabotaged at every chance by her coach,” someone else added.

“Steph White sabotaging Caitlin Clark’s triple-double with 7:53 remaining was nasty work,” another fan wrote.

“I feel like the Fever weren’t up by enough points to justify Caitlin Clark being out almost the entire 4th quarter. I get limiting her minutes on the heels of all the injuries last year. But Steph White is doing too much benching CC for the last 8 minutes,” someone else commented.

“This could have been a generational performance and at worst a triple double for Caitlin Clark tonight against the Storm. I don’t understand the rotations Stephanie White is doing to this team. Anytime Caitlin was in rhythm she got subbed out lol,” another fan wrote.

“Think how much fun the fans would have talking about being at a CC triple double game. Steph robbed them of a great sports memory. Free Caitlin Clark!” someone else added.

It’s worth noting that the Fever are in the midst of a stretch where they play four games in seven days, so it’s likely that White simply wanted to rest Clark to keep her fresh and healthy for the other games this week. But clearly fans were not hapy with that decision.
