Former Michigan State Football Commit Set for MLB Debut with Padres
A former commitment to the Michigan State football team is poised to make his entrance into Major League Baseball. Jase Bowen has reportedly been summoned to the San Diego Padres from their Triple-A affiliate in El Paso, where he has been showcasing his talents.
Bowen, hailing from Toledo, Ohio, was a three-star wide receiver in the 2019 recruiting class and initially pledged to join the Spartans under head coach Mark Dantonio. However, after signing during the early recruitment period, he decided to shift his focus to a career in baseball.
In 2019, he was selected by the Padres during the MLB Draft, a pivotal moment that led him to forgo playing football at Michigan State. Bowen’s athletic prowess raises questions about how he might have impacted the Spartans' football program had he chosen that path. Nonetheless, his decision to pursue baseball has clearly paid off, as he is now set to compete at the sport's highest level.
The San Diego Padres are officially calling up Jase Bowen to the major leagues.
