Former Vol records double for San Francisco against Arizona
Arizona (29-24) defeated San Francisco (22-32), 6-2, Monday at Oracle Park in San Francisco, California.
Former Tennessee baseball player Drew Gilbert started in right field and went 1-for-3. He recorded one double for the Giants in a series opener against the Diamondbacks.
Gilbert appeared in 141 games, including 134 starts, as a batter for Tennessee. He also appeared in 11 contests as a relief pitcher and had a 2-0 record.
Gilbert recorded a .314 batting average, 22 home runs, 140 RBIs and 116 runs with the Vols.
He appeared in 58 games during his final season at Tennessee in 2022, totaling 11 home runs, 70 RBIs, 60 runs, 72 hits, 21 doubles, four triples, 33 walks and four stolen bases.
The former Vol was selected by Houston in the first round (No. 28 overall) of the 2022 MLB draft.
San Francisco will next play on Tuesday versus Arizona in Game 2 of the three-game series versus the Diamondbacks. First pitch is slated for 9:45 p.m. EDT at Oracle Park.
