Friends and Family Gather to Celebrate the Life of Stacey King, Chicago Bulls Legend

A heartfelt tribute took place on Thursday to honor the life of Stacey King, a cherished player and broadcaster for the Chicago Bulls, who passed away earlier this month at the age of 59. Known for his vibrant personality and dedication to the game, King left a lasting impact on both fans and colleagues alike.

The funeral service in Oakbrook Terrace saw a significant turnout of friends and family, all there to pay their respects. A close friend described King as a "larger than life" figure who had an approachable demeanor. His love for people was evident, as many came to honor his memory during the service.

King is fondly remembered for his contributions to the Bulls' championship teams during the early 1990s. He played alongside center Bill Cartwright, who reflected on King's welcoming nature, stating, "That's just the kind of person he was. He just wanted you to feel good... he's gonna be missed. He's not replaceable."

Drafted in the first round in 1989, King spent five seasons with the Bulls before transitioning to a broadcasting role in 2006, where he partnered with Adam Amin. "He was a celebrity around the world," Amin noted, highlighting King's widespread appeal.

Mark Schanowski from ABC7, who collaborated with King on various broadcasts and a popular Bulls podcast, praised him for his "big personality and a big heart," emphasizing his care for Bulls fans. Former teammate Will Perdue echoed these sentiments, reflecting on the profound influence King had on the global Bulls community.

Producer Tamra Anderson, who developed a close friendship with King during their time together, described him as a brotherly figure who always looked out for her. In honor of his legacy, the Bulls are planning a memorial service later this month at the Advocate Center, which will be open to invited guests only.
