Garrett Crochet Addresses Sam Kennedy's Critique of Red Sox Performance

On Thursday, Sam Kennedy, the Boston Red Sox's president and CEO, shared his candid thoughts on the team's current season during an appearance on "The Greg Hill Show." His remarks were critical, labeling the team's performance as "embarrassing," "unacceptable," and "maddening." Despite these harsh words, he also noted that there is still time for the Red Sox to make a push for a wild-card spot.

While injuries have plagued the team, Kennedy emphasized that this should not serve as an excuse for their struggles. Garrett Crochet, one of the team's standout players currently sidelined due to injury, responded to Kennedy's comments, expressing confidence in the team's potential. "I don’t think that we needed that wake-up call,” he told Gabrielle Starr of the Boston Herald. “I think everyone knows the kind of ball that needs to be played, not only at the big-league level but here in Boston, especially.”

Crochet acknowledged the talent added during the offseason, which was viewed as transformative for the team. He reflected on the team's challenges, recognizing that while there have been positive moments, the overall record remains disappointing. "There have been moments here and there, and not all the losses are ugly, but they’re still losses, which sucks,” he added.

Although currently unable to contribute from the injured list, Crochet remains optimistic about his future impact on the team as he aims to return and help steer the Red Sox back on track.
