Kim Clijsters Commends Mirra Andreeva's Poise Following French Open Triumph

Mirra Andreeva celebrated her initial Grand Slam victory at the 2026 French Open, defeating Maja Chwalinska in the women’s singles final. The 19-year-old Russian talent secured the title with a score of 6-4, 7-6 against the Polish qualifier Chwalinska, marking a significant milestone in her young career.

Following her win, Andreeva received accolades for her composed demeanor, with former world number one Kim Clijsters expressing her admiration. During a recent episode of 'Love All', Clijsters shared her thoughts on whether the victory would relieve pressure or increase expectations for the emerging star.

"I think it will free her up, but I also think, just by going off her reaction, she looks so motivated to be like, bring on the next one," Clijsters noted. "I am ready now! She looked so composed. For somebody who we have seen be so emotional on the court, her emotions when she won were so calm. It was like, let me be respectful to my opponent; it was very under control," she added. "It was really nice to see. I love that relationship with them."

After her victory, Andreeva was set to participate in the Berlin Open, but she announced her withdrawal from the tournament on Thursday. "My team and I have decided to take more time to rest, recover, and better prepare for grass. I’ll miss the time in Berlin. Hope to be back next year!" she said.

Her decision to take additional time off is a prudent one as she gears up for future competitions. The expectation is that Andreeva will compete at the Bad Homburg Open in Germany next week, aiming to improve on her quarter-final exit from the previous year. Following this event, all eyes will turn to Wimbledon, where she reached the quarter-finals last year and hopes to advance even further, with the tournament commencing on June 29th.
