Heinrich Delivers JDC-Miller It's First GTP Win with Last Lap Pass at Laguna Seca

After a cloudy afternoon mostly dominated by the front row starting Cadillacs, Laurin Heinrich stole the show with a last lap pass for the lead to bring JDC Motorsports it's first GTP class win at Laguna Seca.

Heinrich passed Earl Bamber in the No. 31 Action Express Racing Cadillac V-Series R in turn five on the final lap and pulled away to a 0.758-second win. This win comes in just Heinrich's second race with the team after he was moved from the 24 Hours of Daytona and 12 Hours of Sebring winning Porsche Penske No. 7 ahead of the Long Beach sprint last month.

Heinrich shares the win with his teammate, Tijmen van der Helm, whose best finish in the GTP class prior came in the 2024 Battle of the Bricks. Monterey marks Helm's first overall win in IMSA competition.

Ford Racing won in the GTD Pro class, taking their first win of the year as Christopher Mies and Fredric Vervisch took the No. 65 Ford Mustang GT3 to the front. The No. 65 was involved in a scuffle with the No. 6 Porsche Penske, which resulted in nose damage to the GTP car.

The No. 65 beat the GTD Pro class leading Corvette Racing by Pratt Miller Motorsports Chevrolet Corvette Z06 of Nick Catsburg and Tommy Miller.

Philip Eng and Marco Wittman finished third in their BMW M Team WRT ahead of the Acura Meyer Shank Racing entries, the No. 60 of Tom Blomqvist and Colin Braun, and the N0. 93 of Renger van der Zande and Nick Yelloy.

Porsche Penske had their worst results of the year so far with the No. 6 and No. 7 Porsche Penske 963 finishing sixth and seventh, respectively.

The GTD class was won by the No. 45 Lamborghini Huracan of Wayne Taylor Racing, piloted by Danny Formal and Trent Hindman.
