How many more seasons will Mark Pope be the Kentucky Basketball head coach?
Greetings, BBN!
Mark Pope has had a rocky two years as the head coach of Kentucky Basketball, putting him squarely on the hot seat for the 2026-27 season. While there’s been plenty of exhilarating highs and incredible wins, there’s also been far too many painful lows and blowout defeats.
Simply put, this isn’t going to cut it for a blue-blood program like Kentucky. Not when you lose 26 games over a two-year span and fail to finish in the top four of the SEC in consecutive seasons.
But thankfully, there have been enough great performances — including wins over Final Four teams Duke and Florida in Year 1 — to think that Pope may be able to get this program back to being a national championship contender.
So, are you more of an optimist who sees Pope breaking through and keeping his job beyond 2027, or do you think this will be his last ride as head coach of the program he won a title with as a player?
