Jacob Misiorowski Sets Record with 103.7 mph Fastball, Marking the Fastest by a Starter Since 2008
DENVER (AP) — In an impressive display of pitching, Milwaukee Brewers' ace Jacob Misiorowski unleashed a blazing 103.7 mph fastball during Saturday night’s game against the Colorado Rockies, setting a new benchmark for starters since pitch tracking began in 2008. The remarkable pitch was delivered to Kyle Karros in the third inning and showcased Misiorowski’s extraordinary talent on the mound.
The 24-year-old right-hander has consistently proven his dominance, having recorded the twelve fastest pitches thrown by a starting pitcher. Prior to this record-breaking moment, his top speed was clocked at 103.4 mph during a game against the St. Louis Cardinals on May 25.
On Saturday, Misiorowski was in top form, throwing a staggering 52 pitches at 100 mph or above, which included an outstanding 45 pitches reaching at least 101 mph. Apart from his speed, he allowed only one unearned run while striking out eight batters over seven innings, which helped reduce his earned run average to an impressive 1.50.
Earlier this season, he had already made headlines by throwing a remarkable 57 pitches at 100 mph or faster in the May 25 outing, with 40 of them hitting 101 mph or more. Misiorowski's performance continues to capture attention in the league as he sets new standards for pitching excellence.
