Justin Allgaier Marks NASCAR Victory with a Leap into the Cumberland River
LEBANON – Justin Allgaier celebrated his recent triumph by winning the Sports Illustrated Resorts 250 at Nashville Superspeedway, which earned him his third Gibson Guitar trophy on May 30. His unique way of honoring the occasion? A plunge into the Cumberland River.
Allgaier is gearing up to compete in the Ashley Whitney Music City Triathlon on May 31, which kicks off with a jump from the General Jackson Showboat at 7:30 a.m. "If I'm being honest, it's not the smartest decision I've ever made in my life," he remarked following his victory in the NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts race. "It's what a group of friends will do to you. Our run group that we run with, we talked about it and we decided it was a great idea. In one theory, it was a great idea."
Despite his enthusiasm, Allgaier admitted to some trepidation about the swimming portion of the event. "I can't swim. I can swim at a pool party, but it's not my strength," he confessed. "And we only signed up two weeks ago. I've been trying to learn how to swim. I've been at the lake swimming."
This victory marks Allgaier's second consecutive win at Nashville Superspeedway in the O'Reilly Auto Parts Series, where he led for 50 laps. The triathlon will certainly add an adventurous twist to his recent success.
