Kansas vs. Oklahoma Baseball Game Rescheduled Due to Weather Delays
LAWRENCE — The highly anticipated matchup between Kansas and Oklahoma in the NCAA super regional faced significant interruptions due to inclement weather, prompting officials to suspend the game. This decision came after a second prolonged delay on Sunday, with the game now set to resume on Monday.
The initial weather delay caused the first pitch at Hoglund Ballpark to be pushed back from 5 p.m. (CT) to 7:30 p.m. (CT). However, a second delay began at 8:40 p.m. (CT), and by 10:23 p.m. (CT), the University of Kansas announced via social media that play would continue on Monday at 12:02 p.m. (CT). At the time the second delay commenced, Oklahoma led 8-1 in the bottom of the third inning, appearing to be on track for victory.
If Oklahoma secures a win in this game, they will claim the super regional title, having already defeated Kansas in the series opener on Saturday with a decisive 8-1 score. For Kansas to advance to the College World Series, they must first win the rescheduled game and, if necessary, a subsequent game on Monday at 4:06 p.m. (CT).
This season has seen Kansas achieve considerable success, winning both the Big 12 Conference’s regular-season and tournament championships, as well as the Lawrence Regional. However, that success has not translated into their current series against the SEC's Oklahoma.
