After winning the title, Strickland said Imavov deserved the next shot, giving Chimaev’s rematch demand another obstacle beyond the result itself.

Fans quickly pointed out the shift in Chimaev’s tone, especially given how cordial he and Strickland appeared before and after the fight.

‘Borz’ even placed the belt around Strickland’s waist after the win, a gesture that now sits awkwardly alongside his renewed threats.

One fan wrote: “Are you going to hug him again after he insults your family and religion? We’re already hurt from your last performance and haven’t recovered.”

Another added: “Can’t fool us twice with this beef s—, n—,” while a third stated: “You put the belt around his waist like a good little boy. Now, you’re saying ‘somebody had to be dead.’”

Chimaev’s challenge is not just securing a rematch. It is also convincing fans that the rivalry still holds the edge he wants to sell.
