The Indiana High School Athletic Association (IHSAA) hosted the track and field state finals over the weekend at North Central High School in Indianapolis. The event featured fierce competition among the state’s best athletes, showcasing their talents on Friday and Saturday.

On Friday, the girls competed, with Carmel High School taking home the team championship, scoring 49.5 points. Following Carmel were Bloomington South with 35 points, Whiteland at 33, Ft. Wayne Concordia with 29, and Hamilton Southeastern, who rounded out the top five with 28 points.

Batesville's Ella King had an impressive performance in the shot put, earning a fourth-place finish with a throw of 44 feet. Additionally, Batesville's 4x800 relay team, consisting of Bayleigh Demaree, Jayla Bedel, Caitlin Raver, and Ava Wade, clocked in at 9:46.04. North Decatur's Miley Scudder also showcased her speed, finishing the 100-meter dash in 12.83 seconds.

Saturday marked the boys' finals, where Bloomington North claimed the team title with 39 points. Franklin Central followed closely with 36 points, while Avon scored 33, Brownsburg totaled 27, and Chesterton secured 26 points to complete the top five rankings.

In the boys' shot put, freshman Jai Jackson from Greensburg earned a sixth-place finish with a solid throw of 58 feet, 11.5 inches. North Decatur's senior Mason Kunz also made his mark by clearing a height of 6 feet, 2 inches in the high jump.
