Klopp's Camp Responds to Madrid's Managerial Speculations: "It's Frustrating"
Real Madrid has not yet finalized their next managerial appointment, but a decision is expected as early as next week. If Florentino Perez continues as president, he is likely to bring back Jose Mourinho; however, his election opponent, Enrique Riquelme, has vowed to secure Jurgen Klopp if he wins the upcoming election.
In recent days, Riquelme has made several bold statements to Real Madrid members, claiming that he has already reached an agreement for star striker Erling Haaland to join the club, contingent on his election victory. He also indicated intentions to target his Manchester City teammate, Rodri Hernandez.
Despite Riquelme’s optimism, Klopp’s connection to Real Madrid has been a persistent topic since Xabi Alonso's departure in January. Riquelme has expressed confidence in his ability to lure Klopp away from Liverpool, but the German manager's camp has made it clear that he is not considering a move. Marc Kosicke, Klopp’s agent, stated, “It’s annoying! Jurgen Klopp is happy in his role at Red Bull and has no ambitions to work as a coach at a club.”
This isn’t the first time this week that Riquelme has faced pushback regarding his claims. Just hours after announcing his aspirations for Haaland, the striker’s representatives dismissed his comments, and now Klopp’s camp has echoed that sentiment. Such rebuttals may impact Riquelme’s credibility among Real Madrid members ahead of their presidential election, the first in two decades, scheduled for Sunday.
