KU baseball's success may force high school state tournament venue change

TOPEKA — The success of Kansas baseball this season has thrown a wrench in high school state baseball.

KU’s Hoglund Field is set to host Class 4A, 3A and 2-1A state semifinals and championship games in two weeks.

The Jayhawks enter this weekend with a 38-15 record. According to USA Today, the Jayhawks are projected to be a No. 1 seed and host a regional during the NCAA Tournament. The regional would fall during the same time as the high school baseball state tournament.

If KU is elected to host, KSHSAA announced that they have a new venue ready.

Kansas State’s Tointon Family Stadium will take over and host the high school baseball tournament on May 27-29.

Tointon Family Stadium has been a staple in hosting high school baseball games. The stadium hosted Class 3A action last season.
