Kyle Daukaus Aims for Recognition with Victory at UFC Freedom 250
WASHINGTON – Kyle Daukaus is ready to seize a pivotal moment in his career. As he prepares for his upcoming fight against Bo Nickal at UFC Freedom 250, which will be hosted at the White House, Daukaus (17-4 MMA, 4-4 UFC) hopes to shift the focus onto himself with a victory this Sunday.
“Obviously, you figured he was going to be on the card,” Daukaus expressed during a pre-fight news conference on Thursday. “You really didn't know who he was going to get off the card. I feel like they're trying to test him against me to see how well he does, and it's my job to go out there Sunday and prove they're kind of wrong about him.” He added that the external pressure does not affect him; "All this stuff is noise to me." Once the match begins, it will just be him and Nickal in the octagon.
This marks Daukaus’ second tenure with the UFC. After a mixed record of 3-3 in his initial run, he bounced back with three consecutive wins in the regional circuit, specifically with CFFC, before rejoining the UFC in August. In his comeback, he scored a quick knockout against Michel Pereira in just 43 seconds, followed by a submission victory over Gerald Meerschaert in 50 seconds, showcasing his efficiency against seasoned opponents.
With a win over Nickal, Daukaus hopes to earn the recognition he believes he deserves. “I think I'll get my appreciation off the win,” he stated confidently. “I'm a talented guy. I know I'm very talented. I have the capability to go out there and win.” He emphasized his record, noting his impressive start of 9-0 and his current six-fight winning streak, while acknowledging that he might be overshadowed by Nickal's rising fame. “But again, I don't take it personally or anything like that. I'm just going out there to perform for myself and make sure I get the job done on Sunday night. After that, I'll potentially have a number next to my name.”
