Lady Lex Track Team Qualifies for State Championships with Strong Regional Performance

PIQUA — The Lexington Lady Lex is set to make a significant impact at the upcoming OHSAA state track and field championships, thanks to their impressive performance at the Division III regional track and field championships held on Saturday, May 30 at Piqua High School. A total of three relay teams and four athletes have earned their spots to compete in Columbus.

Senior Allison Laury qualified for the state meet by finishing fourth in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.38 seconds. Freshman Mia Twedt also secured her place by taking second in the 800-meter run, clocking in at 2:15.09. Additionally, twin sister Gabi Twedt and senior Katya Prykhodko both advanced in the 1,600-meter run, with Prykhodko finishing fourth in 5:09.44 and Gabi close behind in fifth at 5:09.63.

The Lady Lex's 4x100-meter relay team, consisting of Tatum Stover, Sylvia Secrist, Olivia Thomas, and Laury, achieved a third-place finish with a time of 49.29 seconds, which guarantees them a spot at state. Meanwhile, the 4x400-meter relay team of Thomas, Secrist, Mia Twedt, and Laury earned an at-large bid after finishing sixth in the regional with a time of 4:00.14, marking them as one of the top three times not finishing in the top five across the region.

Finally, the 4x800-meter relay team, featuring Prykhodko, Jersie Palmer, Morgan Harrod, and Mia Twedt, also advanced to the state championships by taking second place at the regional meet with a time of 9:28.70.

With their strong performances, the Lady Lex is poised to compete at a high level in Columbus, showcasing the depth of talent within their team.
