Lane Kiffin, LSU Tigers add transfer portal quarterback

Lane Kiffin and the LSU Tigers have made another addition to their quarterback room ahead of the 2026 season. Middle Tennessee State transfer Kaden Martin committed to LSU on Saturday, announcing the news on social media.

LSU will be Martin's fourth school after he began his college career at Miami in 2022, where he played football and baseball. He then transferred to East Tennessee State for the 2023 season and redshirted on the baseball team. He then transferred to MTSU for the 2025 season, where he served on the football scout team as a redshirt junior.

He was ranked as the No. 1,380 overall player and No. 87 quarterback in the Rivals industry rankings when he signed with Miami. He has not played in a football game since he started his college career, and will have one season of eligibility for the Tigers.

Kiffin has overhauled LSU's quarterback room this offseason ahead of his first season in Baton Rouge. Martin is the fourth transfer they have brought in. The biggest addition was Arizona State transfer Sam Leavitt, who was one of the top players in the portal.

They also added Husan Longstreet from USC and Landen Clark from Elon to fill out the depth chart. While Leavitt is expected to be the starter in 2026, his status at the start of the season is unclear as he recovers from an injury. He has battled injuries throughout his career, making the depth behind him extra important for the Tigers.
