Lincoln Boys Lacrosse Claims Victory Over Narragansett, Advances to Championship

NARRAGANSETT – The Lincoln boys lacrosse team had a strong incentive to overcome their past hurdles, including a semifinal defeat to Narragansett last year and the Mariners' subsequent championship win. With a history of near-misses, including back-to-back runner-up finishes in 2023 and 2024, the Lions were eager to secure their first title. On June 2, they achieved a significant milestone by defeating the second-seeded Narragansett, 5-2, in the Division III semifinals.

From the outset, Lincoln established dominance, controlling possession and striking early to secure their first victory against the Mariners this season. Despite having lost to Narragansett in both regular-season encounters, the Lions’ relentless defensive efforts proved crucial in this decisive matchup.

The Lions now look forward to facing the winner of the match between top-seeded Mt. Hope and North Smithfield in the championship game at Brown University, with the exact date and time still to be announced. “It feels phenomenal,” said Joe London. “Not expecting to end up doing this today, but [when] working as a team, we can beat anybody. Everybody is a threat, everybody is strong and everyone’s good.”

Key to Lincoln’s success was sophomore Logan Syznal, who netted two goals within a six-minute window bridging the first quarter. His early scoring helped set the tone for the game. “That was huge,” London remarked about the quick start. “Narragansett’s goalie is very good, but it proved to us that he wasn’t invincible.”

With Eli Hughes extending the lead to 3-1 just before halftime, and Keegan Falcone adding another goal shortly after, Lincoln showcased their ability to maintain pressure. Danny London capped the scoring for the Lions in the third quarter. “Beating this great Narragansett team gives us so much confidence going into the championship,” he noted. The team now faces the challenge of overcoming their previous defeats against Mt. Hope in the finals, but with their current momentum, they are hopeful for a fresh start.
