Longhorns baseball crowned BRUCE BOLT College Classic champions

Through the first few weeks of the college baseball season, fewer teams have better than Texas. The Longhorns have gotten off to an 11-0 start and added some hardware to their trophy case. On Sunday, they were named the BRUCE BOLT College Classic Champions after posting a tournament-best plus-17 run differential in a field that includes six teams.

In the classic finale against Ohio State, Texas was led by it's potent bats. They got off to a 7-0 lead with the help of a two-run homer from Temo Beccera. It was Beccera's third straight game with a home run as he stayed scorching hot at the plate. Over the weekend, the talented infielder went 4-for-8 with six RBI.

Although Beccera made headlines with his bat, he also got some help. On Sunday, against the Spartans, Ethan Mendoza and Aiden Robbins also had RBI singles. Adrian Rodriguez also did some damage with an opposite-field double.

As the Longhorns secured their latest hardware, the pitching helped keep the Buckeyes offense at bay. Star lefty Dylan Volantis limited Ohio State to one run while striking out eight batters in four and two-thirds innings of work. When his day was done, Brett Crossland was called upon and earned his first collegiate win.

With their win on Sunday, Texas secured its best start in 11 years. Due to an elite offense and talented pitching staff, they are seen as one of the best teams in the country. With no signs of slowing down, an unforgettable 2026 season is underway in Austin.

The Longhorns will be back in action on Tuesday against Houston Christian.
