LSU outfielder Jake Brown earns special send-off from Alex Box crowd
LSU baseball's regular season came to an end on Saturday evening with a 15-11 loss to Florida at Alex Box Stadium. With the loss, LSU was swept in five of its final six series. Now, LSU turns its attention to the SEC tournament in Hoover.
Saturday's game was the final time several LSU players would take the field at Alex Box. Big names like Derek Curiel, Jake Brown, and Steven Milam are expected to turn pro.
It was Brown who received the most memorable send-off. Brown has been out since April, when a broken hamate bone ended Brown's season, and effectively his LSU career. Before the injury, Brown was LSU's best hitter and a constant presence at the top of the lineup.
With Brown now being able to take the field, head coach Jay Johnson made sure Brown still got his moment. In the bottom of the eighth, Johson sent Brown out as a pinch hitter. The LSU fans greeted Brown with a standing ovation, and Brown got to walk to the plate one last time in an LSU uniform. Due to the injury, Brown did not end up taking the at-bat as Eddie Yamin entered the game. Still, in a year where LSU won't have a lot to remember, Brown's send-off was something.

After the game, Johnson spoke about what the moment meant to him.

Brown will leave LSU with a strong resume. He was a three-year contributor and played a key role on LSU's College World Series team in 2025. His career average is .304 to go along with 28 home runs and 110 RBI. He scored 111 runs in an LSU uniform.
LSU finished the regular season with just nine SEC wins. The Tigers will return to action on Tuesday night when LSU meets Oklahoma in the first round of the SEC Tournament.
