Meteoric Explosion Shakes Massachusetts with Sonic Booms

A meteor streaking towards Earth at an astonishing speed of 75,000 miles per hour (over 120,000 km/h) disintegrated in the atmosphere above the northeastern United States on Saturday, according to NASA. The event created loud booms that resonated throughout the area, with the force of the explosion comparable to that of 300 tons of TNT.

The fireball erupted over northeastern Massachusetts and southeastern New Hampshire shortly after 2 PM local time (1806 GMT), as reported by Jennifer Dooren, NASA’s deputy news chief, in a statement to AFP.

This incident serves as a reminder of the dynamic nature of our solar system and the potential hazards posed by space debris entering Earth’s atmosphere.
