Mets' injury woes continue as Tyrone Taylor exits game

NEW YORK — Add another name to the Mets' growing injury report.

Tyrone Taylor had to be removed from the team's game on Monday afternoon after pulling up lame out of the batter's box on a ground ball to third in the bottom of the sixth inning.

Taylor, who immediately limped down the stairs toward the clubhouse, was replaced in the game in the top of the seventh inning by MJ Melendez. The Mets announced that Taylor was dealing with right hip pain.

The Mets were already without Juan Soto for the start of Monday's game as the superstar outfielder dealt with an illness for a second straight game. Luis Robert Jr. has not shown any progress as he recovers from a herniated disc in his lower back.

Without Taylor and Robert, the Mets will rely even more heavily on the rookie trio of Carson Benge, A.J. Ewing and Nick Morabito, along with Soto and Melendez.
