Michigan Women’s Basketball Reveals 2026-27 Big Ten Opponents
ANN ARBOR, MI - The University of Michigan's women's basketball program has unveiled its list of home and away opponents for the upcoming 2026-27 Big Ten season, as announced by the conference on Monday. The Wolverines will compete in an 18-game league schedule, facing 16 unique opponents in single-game matchups, in addition to one established rival, Michigan State.
This season, Michigan will host several formidable teams including Indiana, Iowa, Northwestern, Ohio State, Penn State, Rutgers, Washington, and Oregon. The Iowa Hawkeyes, currently ranked No. 6 in ESPN’s early top-25, are among the most notable opponents, trailing only Michigan, which stands at No. 4. Iowa has bolstered its lineup with the addition of Georgia transfer guard Dani Carnegie and the return of standout center Ava Heiden, who averaged 18 points per game last season. Since their last victory over Iowa in the 2021-22 season, the Wolverines have faced challenges against the Hawkeyes, particularly in a memorable game where they fell to Iowa, which claimed the Big Ten regular season title.
Among the highly anticipated matchups at Crisler Center will be the rivalry games against Ohio State, currently ranked No. 18, and Michigan State, promising to deliver thrilling competition for fans. On the road, Michigan will take on a number of other Big Ten teams including Illinois, Maryland, Minnesota, Nebraska, Purdue, Wisconsin, UCLA, and USC, with several of these teams also appearing in the early top-25 rankings.
The Wolverines' home schedule is further highlighted by a matchup against Connecticut on November 5, adding to an already exciting slate. With a strong returning roster featuring junior guards Olivia Olson, Syla Swords, Mila Holloway, and versatile wings Te’Yala Delfosse and Kendall Dudley, Michigan aims to achieve its best Big Ten finish yet, with hopes of finally capturing its first conference title.
