Mike Trout Heads to Injured List Again as Angels Call Up Christian Moore

In a setback for the Los Angeles Angels, star center fielder Mike Trout has once again been placed on the injured list due to a hamstring issue. The team announced the move, which places Trout on the 10-day IL, just before their 5-0 defeat against the Oakland Athletics on Thursday night at Sutter Health Park in Sacramento, California. To fill the gap on the roster, the Angels promoted prospect Christian Moore from Triple-A Salt Lake.

With Trout sidelined, Jose Siri took over center field and batted ninth for the struggling Angels, who currently hold the last place in the AL West with a record of 30-46. In his first at-bat against Athletics pitcher Jeffrey Springs, Siri flew out to right field.

Trout's injury history has been a significant concern since he won his third AL MVP award in 2019, having played more than 82 games only twice in the last five seasons. This year, he suited up for 74 of the Angels' first 75 games, hitting .234 with 17 home runs and 34 RBIs. He was also leading the AL with 54 runs and was second with 66 walks, showcasing his enduring talent at age 34.

Trout was enjoying a solid stretch before the injury, having just completed an eight-game hitting streak. Unfortunately, he aggravated his hamstring while trying to beat out a ground ball during a game against the Arizona Diamondbacks. As fans eagerly await his return, questions linger about whether he can maintain his Hall of Fame caliber performance amid ongoing health issues.

This latest injury adds to the narrative of Trout's career, as he continues to grapple with physical setbacks while still being a central figure in the Angels' lineup.
