Mississippi State baseball vs Texas start time changed due to weather
STARKVILLE — The start time for Mississippi State baseball's series opener at Texas on May 1 has been moved back because of weather.
First pitch between the No. 9 Bulldogs (35-10, 13-8 SEC) and No. 4 Longhorns (33-9, 13-7) is now at 7:30 p.m. at UFCU Disch-Falk Field in Austin. The game will stream on SEC Network+.
According to AccuWeather, 1.05 inches of rain is excepted May 1 in Austin. There is an 82% chance of rain at 7 p.m. and 61% chance at 8 p.m. with thunderstorms possible.
UFCU Disch-Falk Field has a turf playing surface.
Tomas Valincius (7-1, 2.13 ERA) is scheduled to pitch for Mississippi State against Texas' Dylan Volantis (6-0, 2.06 ERA).
The series between MSU and Texas could have SEC championship implications. Texas is a half game ahead of MSU for third place in the standings. Georgia is in first place at 15-6 and Texas A&M is in second place at 14-6.
The Bulldogs haven't played at Texas since 1983. The Longhorns swept the Bulldogs last season at Dudy Noble Field, their first season in the SEC.
