NBA Overturns Technical Foul on Knicks' Mitchell Robinson from Game 2 of Finals

The NBA has officially revoked the technical foul issued to Mitchell Robinson of the New York Knicks during Game 2 of the 2026 NBA Finals, as announced on Saturday. This decision comes after a contentious moment where Robinson was penalized for pushing back against Victor Wembanyama while both players vied for positioning in the paint during the second quarter. Notably, Wembanyama had similarly pushed Robinson moments before, but that action went uncalled.

The free throw awarded to Wembanyama, following the foul, allowed the San Antonio Spurs to take a 47-42 lead. However, the Knicks ultimately triumphed in a nail-biting contest, finishing with a score of 105-104, thereby taking a commanding 2-0 series lead and extending their winning streak to 13 games, which dates back to their first-round matchup against the Atlanta Hawks.

While the reversal of the technical foul will not change the outcome of the game, it spares Robinson from facing a fine and prevents the foul from counting towards a potential automatic suspension. Robinson played just a week post-surgery for a stress fracture in his right pinky finger, contributing 7 points, 3 rebounds, a block, a steal, and a turnover in the game.

Wembanyama led the game with 29 points on 11-of-21 shooting, alongside 9 rebounds and 4 blocks, but his mistakes in the closing minute proved costly for the Spurs. Robinson and teammate Karl-Anthony Towns have effectively contained Wembanyama in what has been a critical matchup in the series.

Looking ahead, Game 3 is set to take place on Sunday at Madison Square Garden, where ticket prices have soared and President Trump is anticipated to be in attendance.
