Oklahoma City Thunder Holds Predraft Workout with Indiana's Sam Alexis

As the Oklahoma City Thunder prepares for an important offseason, the team is eyeing potential roster changes following their recent exit from the playoffs. After a disappointing Game 7 defeat against the San Antonio Spurs, the Thunder’s aspirations for a back-to-back NBA championship have come to an end, prompting a shift in focus toward the upcoming draft.

The Thunder are positioned well for the 2026 NBA Draft, armed with three valuable picks: the 12th overall from the LA Clippers, the 17th from the Philadelphia 76ers, and the 37th from the Dallas Mavericks. This dual approach allows them to both compete for a championship and scout for emerging talent to bolster their roster.

One player who recently caught their attention is Sam Alexis from Indiana University, according to Rookie Wire. Alexis, a versatile forward standing 6-foot-9 and weighing 240 pounds, has had a varied collegiate career, playing four seasons from 2022 to 2026, including stints at Chattanooga, Florida, and finally Indiana. In his most recent season, he averaged 8.8 points, shooting an impressive 68.7% from the field, along with 4.8 rebounds and 1.2 assists over 32 games.

Despite his promising statistics, Alexis is projected to go undrafted in many NBA mock drafts, which opens up the possibility for the Thunder to sign him to a Summer League deal. This would allow him to showcase his skills further and potentially earn an invitation to training camp as the team seeks to develop young talent around stars like Shai Gilgeous-Alexander, Chet Holmgren, and Jalen Williams.

The 2026 NBA Draft is scheduled for June 23-24, and the Thunder will be eager to enhance their roster in hopes of extending their competitive window.
