Orioles Triumph Over Red Sox 4-2 with Alonso's Home Run and Baz's Stellar Pitching

BOSTON (AP) — The Baltimore Orioles secured a 4-2 victory against the Boston Red Sox on Tuesday evening, powered by Pete Alonso's two-run homer and a strong performance from pitcher Shane Baz. This win marks the Orioles' third consecutive victory, successfully breaking a three-game losing streak on the road.

Baz (3-5) delivered another impressive seven-inning outing, allowing just four hits and striking out six batters. After conceding a leadoff triple to Jarren Duran in the first inning, Baz found his rhythm, retiring 10 consecutive hitters until the fifth. Rico Garcia closed the game with two strikeouts in the ninth, earning his fourth save of the season.

Alonso's home run in the third inning, his 12th of the year, came off a 2-2 pitch from Connelly Early (5-3) and sailed well over the Green Monster, putting the Orioles ahead 3-1. This blast also marked Alonso's 38th RBI of the season. Earlier in the game, Coby Mayo tied the score at 1-1 with his seventh homer, which initially was ruled a double before being overturned upon video review.

The Red Sox managed to score both of their runs through sacrifice flies from Wilyer Abreu and Marcelo Mayer, but their record at home fell to 9-20. Early pitched 5 1/3 innings, giving up four runs on six hits as the game progressed.

Looking ahead, Baltimore's right-hander Chris Bassitt (4-3, 5.06 ERA) is set to face off against Boston's lefty Payton Tolle (2-2, 2.61) as the series continues on Wednesday.
