Partner: Norway's Sørloth suffers online abuse after World Cup exit
Norway forward Alexander Sørloth has been the subject of online abuse after the team's World Cup quarter-final exit against England at the World Cuo.
Sørloth's partner, Lena Selnes, posted some of of the abusive comments that reached them after Saturday's match in Miami on her Instagram account.
One read "Please commit suicide, you idiot," another "tell your man that he should leave Norway and jump off a cliff" and a third one "I will kill him."
It is believed that the abusive posts are in relation to Atlético Madrid's Sørloth missing a good opportunity when Norway were leading 1-0, and having not passed to the better positioned Erling Haaland.
"The World Cup and football bring joy, but also a lot of hatred. I don’t really want to give this much attention, but I have to after reading these comments,” Selnes said.
