Paul Pogba Shares Support for Michael Carrick's Permanent Role at Manchester United
Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Pogba has openly expressed his views on the club’s choice to keep Michael Carrick as a permanent manager. Carrick's leadership has played a pivotal role in rejuvenating the team's fortunes.
The 2025/26 season proved to be a successful one for Manchester United, as they secured a third-place finish and returned to the Champions League after a two-year hiatus. The season began with uncertainty under Ruben Amorim, who was dismissed early in the year. Carrick then stepped in as interim manager, leading the team to a remarkable turnaround.
During his tenure, which included 17 Premier League matches, Carrick achieved 12 victories, three draws, and only two losses. His attacking style quickly resonated with both fans and players, sparking a renewed sense of optimism for the club's future, especially with a promising summer transfer window on the horizon.
While the club had committed to a thorough search for a suitable manager, it became evident that Carrick was the frontrunner for the role. His permanent appointment was confirmed last month.
In a recent interview with Sky Sports, Pogba voiced his support for Carrick, stating, “I think he’s doing a great job and he did it also at the time when he was the assistant of Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.” He added, “He’s a great guy, he has experience, he was a great player, and he has a very good connection with the players, you could see it when he took the team.” Pogba concluded by wishing Carrick and the entire United squad success in their endeavors.
Pogba, who made 233 appearances for United across two stints, remains a notable figure in the club's recent history.
