Phillies Power Past Blue Jays with Strong Offensive Display

TORONTO (AP) — The Philadelphia Phillies showcased their offensive firepower on Wednesday night, defeating the Toronto Blue Jays 7-4. Key contributions came from Alec Bohm, who launched a three-run homer, as well as Kyle Schwarber and Bryce Harper, each adding to the scoreboard with home runs of their own.

Jesús Luzardo (5-4) had a solid outing, allowing just one run over 5 2/3 innings, while Jhoan Duran secured his 17th save in 18 opportunities. With this victory, the Phillies have now triumphed in seven of their last nine games.

In a setback for the Phillies, outfielder Adolis García exited the game in the seventh inning after making several throws to home plate on sacrifice flies. Steward Berroa replaced him, as García was later diagnosed with a pulled shoulder muscle.

Bohm's homer marked his eighth of the season, while Harper's solo shot was his 15th, both off veteran pitcher Max Scherzer (1-4), who struggled, surrendering five runs and five hits in just 3 1/3 innings. Schwarber, meanwhile, hit his league-leading 24th home run off Mason Fluharty.

Scherzer did manage to reach a career milestone, recording his 3,500th strikeout by catching Schwarber looking at an 86 mph change-up. Despite walking three and striking out four, Scherzer's performance was overshadowed by the Phillies' offensive onslaught.

Looking ahead, the Phillies are set to start RHP Andrew Painter (1-7, 6.21 ERA) against Milwaukee's RHP Jacob Misiorowski (7-2, 1.50) on Friday, while the Blue Jays have yet to announce their starter for the upcoming game against the Yankees.
