Rafael Leão Expresses Preference for Premier League Amid Manchester United Interest
As Manchester United looks to bolster its squad following a third-place finish in the Premier League, the club is focusing on potential summer signings. While the primary attention is on midfield reinforcements, including nearly finalizing a deal for Ederson, the Red Devils are also exploring options for wingers and full-backs.
Among the players on United’s radar is Rafael Leão, currently with AC Milan. The Portuguese winger has confirmed his intention to leave Milan after representing Portugal in the upcoming World Cup. Leão has expressed a desire to play in either the Premier League or La Liga next season, having previously played in Portugal, France, and Italy.
Renowned journalist Fabrizio Romano shared insights on Leão's preferences in a recent YouTube update, stating, “the feeling around Rafael, and from those close to him, is that the Premier League would be the absolute dream move and the ideal destination.” Although Turkish clubs have shown interest, Leão is inclined to wait for opportunities that may arise post-World Cup.
Romano further elaborated that Leão perceives his time at Milan as coming to a close and prioritizes the Premier League over La Liga. He noted, “In a recent interview, Rafael mentioned Manchester United. A few years ago, he was mentioning Arsenal.”
While no agreement is currently in place with any Premier League clubs, potential hurdles remain, particularly given Leão's injury-riddled season at Milan. However, as the World Cup concludes, interest in Leão is expected to intensify.
