Rain Washes Out Second ODI Between West Indies and Sri Lanka, Series Stands at 1-0
KINGSTON, Jamaica (AP) — The second one-day international clash between the West Indies and Sri Lanka was called off due to rain on Saturday, with no overs bowled. Currently, Sri Lanka leads the three-match series 1-0 following their victory in the first match on Thursday, where they triumphed by 41 runs. This win marked a significant milestone for former South Africa star Gary Kirsten, celebrating his first victory as Sri Lanka's head coach and the team's first ODI win in the Caribbean in over a decade.
The West Indies won the toss and opted to bowl first, but persistent rain at Sabina Park led umpires to abandon the match around 6:30 PM local time, leaving only a few dedicated fans lingering until the end.
The final match of the series is scheduled to take place in Kingston on Monday, after which the teams will compete in three Twenty20 internationals and two test matches.
