Rams Eye Potential Trade for Wanya Morris Following Jackson's Arrest

CLEVELAND, OHIO - On December 15, Wanya Morris, the Kansas City Chiefs' offensive tackle, took to the field at halftime during a game against the Cleveland Browns. However, his future with the team may now be in jeopardy as reports indicate he could be available for trade.

In light of Alaric Jackson's recent arrest on domestic violence charges, which may sideline him for an extended period, the Los Angeles Rams are considering a deal for Morris. ESPN's Jeremy Fowler revealed that Morris and the Chiefs are open to exploring trade opportunities. While the timing may seem coincidental, it suggests Kansas City is ready to part ways with the young tackle.

Morris, a third-round selection from Oklahoma in 2023, has had a tumultuous career thus far, starting 16 games across three seasons, including 11 in 2024. His performance has led to a lack of confidence from the Chiefs, who recently drafted first-rounder Josh Simmons to take over his position. As Morris approaches free agency in 2027, Kansas City may be inclined to trade him if they can secure a favorable draft pick or player in return.

Despite some setbacks, Morris showed flashes of promise during his rookie season, notably delivering an impressive performance against the Packers, where he earned a pass protection grade of 73.4, allowing just one quarterback pressure. However, he also faced challenges, including a difficult outing against the Raiders, where he allowed ten pressures.

While some may overlook Morris as a viable option to fill Jackson's void, it's important to remember that the Rams have previously acquired players like Kevin Dotson from teams that had moved on from them. At only 25 years old and standing 6’6” and weighing 307 pounds, Morris possesses the potential to be a valuable asset, especially with limited alternatives available in the current market.
