Rams Set for 2026 Season with Current Quarterback Trio
The Los Angeles Rams seem to be firming up their quarterback lineup as they prepare for the upcoming 2026 NFL season. After selecting Ty Simpson in the recent draft, the question arose regarding whether the Rams would seek to add another quarterback to their roster, which already includes Matthew Stafford and Stetson Bennett. However, it appears that the Rams have decided against pursuing any additional signal-callers at this time.
Head coach Sean McVay addressed the media on Monday, stating that there are currently no discussions about acquiring a veteran quarterback. This update was shared by Rams reporter Adam Grosbard, indicating a clear direction from the team's leadership as they approach training camp.
Prior to the draft, McVay had expressed interest in bringing in a seasoned player, such as Kirk Cousins or a return for Jimmy Garoppolo. However, with Cousins now signed with the Las Vegas Raiders and Garoppolo contemplating retirement, those options have diminished. Following the selection of Simpson, McVay mentioned that Simpson would need to compete with Bennett for the role of backup to Stafford, although it remains uncertain who will ultimately claim that position.
As it stands, the Rams are poised to enter the 2026 season with Stafford set to lead the team, backed by either Bennett or Simpson. While injuries or performance issues could prompt a reassessment, the decision to stick with three quarterbacks suggests a preference for stability in the quarterback room.
